Built in 1480, Tu Hwnt i�r Bont (Beyond the Bridge) has been a tea room operated by the National Trust for decades. Originally a house. It was also used as a courtroom for a time hundreds of years ago. The bridge is 'Pont Fawr' and was built in the 16th century. Can only take traffic one way as is very narrow. A light signals cars on the eastern side when a car enters the bridge on the west...but don't always stop, causing tailbacks onto the main road on the east side, really annoying! LOL To cross the River Conwy otherwise, have to head about 5 miles south, or about 10 miles north. When it floods the bridge is closed, as the west side of the bridge always gets inundated. the little cottage has plaques by the door showing record flood levels...about halfway up the door frame from just a few years back.
